Take me to church guitar chords
Take Me to Church is a song by Irish singer–songwriter Hozier, released as his debut single on 13 September 2013. It was written by Hozier and produced by Rob Kirwan. The song has been certified multi–platinum in Australia, Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In 2014, it was nominated for the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. The song has been described as a “gospel blues song“ with “a rumbling bass, an insistent organ“ and “a snare that crack[s] like a whip.” The lyrics have been interpreted as a rejection of the Catholic Church‘s teachings on sexuality, and as a call for social and political reform. Hozier has said that the song is not necessarily about the Church, but is instead about “humanity and how we treat each other.” He has also said that he did not intend for the song to be interpreted as a gay anthem, but that he is “happy“ if it is seen as such.
