Hey There Delilah is a song by the American rock band Plain White T‘s. It was released in May 2006 as the second single from their third studio album, All That We Needed. The song was written by lead singer Tom Higgenson and was inspired by his long–distance relationship with a woman he met while she was attending college in New York City. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, giving the band their first and only number–one single to date. It also peaked at number one in the United Kingdom, making it the first American rock band to achieve a number one single in the UK since Nickelback did so in 2006 with “Far Away“. The song was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2007, winning the award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
